Da-yung Cho is a soprano with a sparkling timbre and a vivacious stage presence.

Her broad repertoire ranges from baroque and classical music to operetta and modern musicals. Engagements have taken her to the Seefestspiele Mörbisch, the Großes Festspielhaus Salzburg, Musical Frühling in Gmunden, Theater an der Rott, and Neuburger Kammeroper. Her roles include Philidel in Purcell's “King Arthur,” Cleopatra in “Giulio Cesare,” Mi in “The Land of Smiles,” Rita in Donizetti's “Rita,” and Lucy in Menotti's “The Telephone.” From 2021 to 2024, she embodied the female lead roles in operas by composers such as Nicolas Dalayrac, Giuseppe Mosca, Pierre-Alexandre Monsigny, and Luigi Ricci at the Neuburger Kammeroper. In concerts, she sang Soprano Solo parts in “Die Schöpfung” , “Ein deutsches Requiem” and various Oratorios. Music of the 20th and 21st centuries is also a large part of her work. Thus she has performed Pierrot in Schoenberg's Pierrot Lunaire and several world premieres by contemporary composers.

As of the season 2024/2025, Ms. Cho is a member of the soloist ensemble of the Musikalische Komödie Leipzig in Oper Leipzig. She is currently performing Stasi in Die Csardasfürstin, Cupido in Orpheus in the Underworld, Pugsley Addams in The Addams Family, and Lisa in Hello! Again?.

In January 2026, she will take on the role of Adele in Johann Strauss's Die Fledermaus.

The Korean artist was born in Vienna, Austria, and grew up in Germany. After her family settled in Korea, she completed her bachelor's degree in church music at the Presbyterian University and Theological Seminary in Seoul.

Da-yung Cho returned to her hometown of Vienna in 2013 to complete her master's degree at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien. Another influence on her artistic development was her training in classical operetta at the Musik und Kunst Universität der Stadt Wien.
